The Chicago Tribune offers endorsements in contested judicial primary elections in the suburbs outside of Cook County. The Tribune stated, "Attorney Thomas Patrick Rice of Batavia, who teaches at John Marshall Law School and gets very high marks for his legal ability, is the choice for the GOP."

On January 13, 2010, the Illinois State Bar Association released its polling of the qualifications of the candidates for the Circuit Court Judgeship of Kane County. This is a poll of the attorneys who practice in Kane County and belong to the bar association. Mr. Rice was rated as "Recommended' for Circuit Court Judge, whereas candidates Ackemann, Tegeler, and Wojtecki were "NOT Recommended". In addition, under the assessment as to "legal ability", Mr. Rice rated 18% points higher than his nearest competitor. Please vote for Thomas Patrick Rice, and urge your family, friends, and colleagues to do the same!
