My name is Thomas Patrick Rice and I am pleased to announce that I am running as a Republican candidate to become your Kane County Resident Judge for the 16th Judicial Circuit. I am running for this position because I believe a judge must have extensive trial experience, common sense, and an ethical, honest approach to matters before the bench; further, there must be courtesy and civility to the individuals of the community. In the past, too many people have relied upon politicians and those with clout; in a courtroom, that should not matter.

Here are current highlights of my qualifications:

  • 24 years as a successful trial attorney, concentrating in civil litigation in the collar counties
  • Conducted more than 75 jury trials and numerous appeals to higher courts
  • Appointed to the Illinois Supreme Court Special Committee on Professionalism
  • Elected President of the DuPage County Bar Association
  • Served as Delegate to the American Bar Association
  • Elected Member of the General Assembly of the Illinois State Bar Association
  • In 2008, appointed Adjunct Professor of Law for Trial Advocacy at John Marshall Law School in Chicago, IL, instructing the next generation of attorneys.

On a personal note, I am a 12-year resident of Kane County, now residing in Batavia. My wife, Lynda,
and I have two sons, Ian and Zachary. My family has been very active in school, church, and charitable organizations, particularly those involving the research and cure of autism. Prior to earning my law degree,
I was a high school instructor and coach, chairman of the history and social sciences department, and president of my teachers' association.

Please join my family and friends in supporting me, Thomas Patrick Rice, for Circuit Court Judge.

Thank you.
